1. What's the problem with Processed Sugar ?

Sugar, as we know it, is a very unessential part of our diet. It is well established that sugar causes harm to our body. However, no thanks to our modern lifestyle, it has become an integral part of our lives.

There are significant side effects of sugar consumption -

obesity, diabetes, early muscle fatigue and increase in acidic pH of blood which is a precursor to many more diseases like cancer etc.

2. Days What is permissible and what is a NO NO ?

ALLOWED -
-All fruits
-All vegetables
-Rice, wheat and other food grains
-Tea / coffee without sugar
-Milk
-Dry fruits (less quantity)

NOT ALLOWED - -Any kind of mithai, but obviously!
-Tea / coffee with sugar
-Chocolates, cake, pastries
-Sugar-free powder / granules
-Energy drinks, sports drinks
-Biscuits, cookies, health / energy bars
-Aerated drinks, sherbets
-Horlicks, Boost, Complan
-Alcohol
-Jaggery
-Artificial sweeteners / sugar free tablets
-Mouth fresheners
-Powder milk
-Honey
-Sugarcane

3. Who can join ?

Psychologists reckon it takes a minimum of 21 days’ regularity to develop a new habit.

4. Why 21 Days? 

Please understand this is going to be a roller-coaster journey. There will be days when we will have extreme sugar cravings. A good way to avoid cravings is to have a teaspoon of cinnamon powder in a cup of water every morning and evening. Occasionally we can have brown jaggery, dry fruits (minimal quantity, not a lot), dates, dry figs and raisins.

5. How to handle Sugar Cravings?

Please understand this is going to be a roller-coaster journey. There will be days when we will have extreme sugar cravings. 6. What is THE CONFESSION BOX?
Whenever you break the rules, you immediately post a message on the whatsapp group – I have a confession to make…blah blah blah….but I will try not to lose my way again.

7. How many confessions am I allowed?
Unlimited :)

8. How do we track?
We trust one another. If you have not confessed it is assumed you are doing it right.

9. Is there a competition or points system involved?
Nah, this is a fun challenge based on self-motivation. Use the group to stay connected and learn from others.

10. If we don't consume Sugar, is it going to affect our energy levels?
Not really. We only want to avoid processed sugar. There are fruits and other natural sources to take care of our body's sugar needs.

11. No sugar means avoiding white sugar jaggery and sweets correct?
Yes, that's right.

12. I take protein shake twice a day to complete my protein intake(I am regular to gym). It has additional sugar. Can this be considered as an exception for this challenge?
I think yes. You can just make a confession here and move on. After all, our main objective is to get rid of the obvious problems.

13. भाजी आमटी त ला गूळ चालेल का ? कारण मी माझी भाजी आमटी वेगळी करून घेऊ शकणार नाही
Ghari option bilkul nasel tar asech continue kara. Just post a blanket confession on the group and continue :).

14. Rice is allowed but it contains starch
Since rice isn't processed sugar, it is fine.

15. Stivia (Madhuparni) drop is allowed?
Yes Stevia is a natural sweetener, so it should be fine.

16 Dry fruits, dates are ok right...
Yes. Coz they are natural.

17. Is carbs are allowed in more quantity?
This query is out of scope for the No Sugar Challenge. You can check with your nutritionist /doctor as to how much carbs is appropriate for you.

18. Why not to start from today/tomorrow? Why to wait for tomorrow?
No major reason. Just wanted to give people a few days to prepare mentally :)

19. भात बंद करणे अवघड आहे खूप आवडतो मला प्रमाण कमी करू शकते चालेल का
Rice allowed aahe. No problem.

20. I am a runner, cyclist & swimmer... I would like to know I use Enerzal, Fast&Up so should i stop it? Then how can I get Sugar to maintain energy level?
If you are taking supplements coz of the intensive training, I suggest you continue. Assumption - these supplements are essential for you.

21. Is alcohol allowed?
No. We've had technical debates in the past about which type of alcohol contains what kind of sugar. But, as a broad guideline, I suggest you skip alcohol.

23. if any one instance we have alcohol or any sweet, we need to declare it on group? In that case do we incur penalty points?
You can just declare, no further consequences coz we don't have points. It's all self-regulation. The structure of this challenge is very friendly and accommodating. It's more like a support group than a strict classroom.

24. My doctor’s advice is different from what's written in this FAQ. Who should I follow?
Always follow the doctor! These guidelines are generic and suitable for most people. However, if your medical situation requires a different approach, follow that.
